Accessibility Statement
NeuroKind is committed to making this website accessible and welcoming for everyone.
Last updated: May 30, 2026
NeuroKind was created by and for neurodivergent people. Accessibility is not an afterthought for us - it is the foundation of everything we build. We are continuously working to improve the experience for all visitors.
What we are doing
- Clean, readable design: High contrast text, generous spacing, and clear typography to reduce cognitive load.
- Screen reader compatible: Semantic HTML structure, descriptive alt text on all images, and ARIA labels where needed.
- No autoplay media: We never autoplay videos or audio. You choose what to engage with.
- Keyboard navigable: All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard. Dropdown menus, buttons, and links can all be reached with Tab and activated with Enter. Focus indicators are visible on all interactive elements.
- Reduced motion: We respect the prefers-reduced-motion CSS media query. If your system is set to reduce motion, animations will be minimized.
- Skip-to-content links: A skip link is available at the top of every page, allowing keyboard and screen reader users to jump directly to the main content.
- Dark mode: We support the prefers-color-scheme media query. If your system is set to dark mode, the site will automatically adapt.
- Escape key support: Pressing Escape closes any open menu or dropdown.
- ARIA expanded states: Toggle buttons communicate their expanded state to screen readers.
- Content warnings: Blog posts that discuss potentially difficult topics include content notes at the top so you can choose what is right for you.
- Clear language: We write in plain, direct language. Short paragraphs, clear headings, no jargon without explanation.
What we are working on
Accessibility is an ongoing process. We are actively working on:
- Further reducing page weight for slower connections
- Improving screen reader announcements for dynamic content changes

Standards
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. We test our site using both automated tools and manual testing with screen readers and keyboard-only navigation.
