Sensory tools can make a huge difference in regulating your nervous system. Here are products organized by sensory need.
Loop Earplugs - Engage (reduces noise, allows conversation), Experience (concerts/social), Quiet (maximum reduction). Reusable and discreet. Popular with ND folks.
Flare Audio Calmer - Not exactly earplugs; they reduce harsh sound frequencies. Some people prefer them for sensory regulation.
Silicone Earplugs - Mack's, Howard Leight, and others offer affordable, disposable, or reusable options.
Weighted blankets - Harkla, Gravity Blanket, and Quility. General guideline: 10% of body weight + 1-2 lbs. Not for everyone; some ND people find them overwhelming.
Weighted lap pads - Smaller, more portable than full blankets. Good for work, school, or travel.
Compression clothing - Compression shirts, leggings, or socks. Some people find the consistent pressure regulating.
Chewelry - Chewable jewelry. Stimagz, ARK Therapeutic, and Chewigem offer various styles and firmness levels.
Teething toys - Yes, for adults too. Silicone teething toys can be excellent oral stim tools.
Mints, gum, hard candy - More discreet options for public oral stimming.
Fidget toys - ONO Roller (smooth, silent), Fidget Cube (discreet), Tangle (classic), NeeDoh (squishy), Pop-Its (great for kids and adults).
Tangles - Classic fidget toy that can be twisted and manipulated in endless ways.
Infinity cubes - Compact, silent, satisfying for people who need something to do with their hands.
Blue-light glasses - Reduces eye strain and supports sleep regulation. Felix Gray and Zenni offer prescription and non-prescription options.
Blackout curtains - Essential for light-sensitive sleepers. Look for "100% blackout" for maximum effectiveness.
Eye masks - For travel or when blackout curtains aren't an option. Weighted eye masks can offer extra sensory input.
White noise / pink noise machines - For masking environmental sounds during sleep or focus. Apps like Endel and Brain.fm also offer this.
